The 39th Annual Western New York Peace Center dinner will be held Thursday, November 9 at 6:00 pm at the Buffalo Convention Center, Franklin near Court. The cost is $35. The keynote speaker is Paul Kawika Martin, Political and PAC director for Peace Action in Washington, DC. Paul is the movement's top man on Captitol Hill, connecting the grassroots with our allies in Congress. In the wake of the upcoming elections, Paul will speak on "Congress and the Peace Movement: Where Do We Go From Here?" Congresswoman Louise Slaughter will also be there to receive a special award recognizing her support for bringing our troops home from Iraq. Please note - CPJ members Bill and Nancy Stock will be attending. They have enjoyed the dinners in the past as opportunities to hear excellent speakers, visit informative booths, meet with other peace-minded people, and purchase fair-trade items. They have let the CPJ know that tickets can be purchased at a discount if an organization reserves a table for eight. Anyone interested in going should contact Bill and Nancy at 965-2687. |
